March 8, 2022

The BMBA is excited to advise all Members of a recent decision to introduce a new senior position.

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Alan McKinnon as the BMBA Club Coaches Education Coordinator. Alan’s work with Country Victoria and his likewise commitment to his further basketball education, makes him the ideal person for this new role.

Alan’s total responsibility will be to work with as many Club Coaches as possible and to give them proper guidance and education in regard to what they should be teaching with their respective teams and particular age groups.

The aim of this new position is to improve the overall standard of our Domestic Competitions and likewise assist the Club’s with their ongoing education of their Team Coaches.

Alan will coordinate his activities via each Club and will try to visit as many Coaches training sessions as possible. He will be running regular Coaches Education sessions to review, discuss and hopefully better educate all the junior Club Coaches.

So we hope Alan can be of any assistance to your team and you will see him in attendance at one of your training sessions quite soon, FYI currently the Clubs are all talking to Alan and booking him in to their time lines and needs.

Please note, this program will run up till the end of term 2 as a trial, so there will obviously be a far bit of time available for all Coaches to get involved in your Clubs current training schedules.

It is hoped that this position can become permanent, however the BMBA has taken the decision that it will be reviewed in conjunction with all Clubs prior to the end of Term 2, so as to ascertain how it has worked and verify the amount of support for it to continue as a permanent program.
